Fidel A. Vargas is President and CEO of the Hispanic Scholarship Fund, the nation’s leading provider of scholarships and services designed to give Latino students full access to the opportunities a college education can provide. With more than $430 million in scholarships awarded since its founding in 1975, HSF continues to provide increasing numbers of students all the tools they need to apply to college, do well in their course work, graduate, enter a profession, excel, help lead our nation going forward, and mentor the generations to come.
Prior to joining HSF, Mr. Vargas was a founding partner of Centinela Capital Partners, a private equity asset management firm that focused on investing and managing nearly $1 billion in minority-owned funds. Prior to joining Centinela, Mr. Vargas was a Managing Director with TMG Advisors, an investment/consulting firm specializing in business development, strategic planning, and government affairs. He was also a Founding Principal and Managing
Director of Reliant Equity Investors, a private equity investment firm. At the age of twenty-three, Mr. Vargas became the country’s youngest elected Mayor of a major city: Baldwin Park, California, with a population of 75,000, twenty miles northeast of Los Angeles.
In addition to having served on HSF’s Board of Directors prior to becoming its President and CEO, Mr. Vargas has served on a number of public and private sector boards, including: the Latino Theater Company of Los Angeles; the New America Alliance; Sponsors for Education Opportunities; and Operation Hope, Inc. He served on President Clinton’s Advisory Council on Social Security; President Bush’s Commission on Strengthening Social Security; and Presidents Bush and Obama’s Commission on Presidential Scholars. He currently serves on the boards of the California Community Foundation, the Latino Donor Collaborative, and The Los Angeles Theatre Center.
Mr. Vargas has been recognized for his accomplishments by numerous organizations and media outlets, throughout his career. Time Magazine named him as one of the Top 50 Young Leaders in the United States, Hispanic Magazine named him one of the Top 30 Young Hispanics in the United States, and he was named one of the country’s 100 most influential Hispanics by Hispanic Business Magazine.
Mr. Vargas graduated with honors from Harvard University with an A.B. in Social Studies and received his M.B.A. from Harvard Business School.

After two sleepless years, Rafael “Ray” Collazo finally listened to his heart and founded Rays Podcast Network on Easter Sunday of 2013. Ray began Rays Latino Talk Podcast so everyone can have the inspiration and tools to release their immense greatness. Collazo felt compelled to share life lessons he had experienced through his unique personal journey to help others have the courage to listen to their heart. As Rays Podcast grew, Ray wanted to dedicate specific content to subject areas he particularly appreciates like Sports, Politics and Latina Empowerment, thus the creation of Latino Sports Talk, Latinos Talk Politics and Rays Latina Voices.
Ray is passionate about creating platforms so we can all learn from the incredible ‘Rays Of Light’ amongst us that can help transform our lives with their powerful messages. Collazo is a seasoned and acclaimed campaign professional and strategist who helps lead the political affairs for a prominent national civil rights organization. Chris Cummings is the founder and CEO of Curiosity Media, a leader in online language education. Curiosity Media’s flagship property, SpanishDict.com, is the world’s largest Spanish reference and learning website, helping millions of people improve their Spanish every month.
Prior to Curiosity Media, Chris worked as a management consultant with Bain and Company and The Bridgespan Group. Chris also architected the online student data platform used by the nonprofit, The Achievement Network, to help hundreds of schools analyze and act on student data.

Alex Torrenegra started his first business at age 14 in Bogotá, Colombia, with the objective of buying his first computer. After migrating to the US and finding his love of his life, Tania Zapata, he co-founded Bunny Inc., with the objective of maximizing the productive creativity of human kind, by offering great services that allow all people on earth to participate in the global economy.
He also founded Torrenegra Labs, an incubator that was named one of the top immigrant owned startups in the US by Forbes Magazine. With Torrenegra Labs, he has co-founded and invested in several successful tech companies including WeHostels, VivaReal, and Dashbell. I also co-founded HubBOG, BogoDev, and BogoTech, the three largest communities of web entrepreneurs, software developers, and technologists in Colombia. In 2012 he was honored by MIT’s Technology Review with the TR35 Top Colombian Innovator of the Year award, in 2013 with the NYC Venture Fellowship by the City of New York, and also in 2013 with the High-Impact Entrepreneur title by Endeavor. He is a regular speaker on entrepreneurship, bootstrapping, crowdsourcing, and immigration.

Marissa Fernandez is a native-born Cubana with over 8 years of Hispanic marketing experience across a variety of brands and companies. A self-proclaimed brand-geek, Marissa believes strongly in the “consumer is boss” mentality engrained in her early on in her career at P&G.
She currently serves as Director of Fan Strategy & Marketing for the National Football League, America’s most popular sports league. In this role, Marissa’s primary responsibility is to lead the league’s Hispanic Fan Growth Strategy she aims to accelerate NFL fan development amongst the fast-growing Latino population in the US.
Prior to coming to the NFL, Marissa served as a Client Solutions Director at the Latinum Network, consulting with over 20 brands on their multicultural strategies, including the NFL, NBA, ESPN, The Walt Disney Company, Hershey’s, and Univision. Before Latinum, Marissa spent six years in brand management at Procter & Gamble, where she learned the brand building fundamentals working on powerhouse brands like Tide and Gillette.
Marissa graduated Magna Cum Laude with a BS from Cornell University. Since college, she has lived in Cincinnati, OH, Boston, MA, Washington DC, and now resides in Manhattan, NY. In her spare time, she enjoys cooking, traveling, watching sports, exercising, and spending time with friends and family. Kyra Caruso is a Latina/New York native with a very an interesting mix of professions: she is a DJ and a doula. Part Mexican and part Austrian, Kyra is co-owner of the music and lifestyle company Blend Media Group. Caruso has become quite the hot commodity, even djing for the likes of Katy Perry and Rihanna.
If playing music for celebrities isn’t enough, Kyra is a certified doula, and is especially passionate about meeting the needs of immigrant, single and low-income women in her community. Through her work as a doula, Kyra is now launching a program called, Beyond Words: music therapy for mothers and their babies during labor. Caruso is preparing to launch this program in the United States and Mexico.

Lizza Monet Morales is a rising actress who has already made a name for herself as a bilingual reporter and brand ambassador. This proud Latina, is a native Angeleno, who calls Los Angeles and New York home. Picking up her first copy of Variety and The Hollywood Reporter at the age of 8, Lizza immediately fell in love with the entertainment industry and the rest as they say is history. Luis O. de La Hoz, 42 is the Senior Vice President of the Lending Team at the Intersect Fund, a non-profit micro-lender and certified CDFI based in New Brunswick, NJ that provides training, coaching and capital to low-income, minority and women-owned businesses throughout the state of New Jersey. Prior to his position at the Intersect Fund, De La Hoz moved to New Jersey to launch a tax preparation and financial services firm. Before migrating to the United States from his native Colombia in the early 2000s, De la Hoz was involved in the hospitality industry. In 2010, he was appointed Chair of the Central New Jersey Small Business Council of the Middlesex County Regional Chamber of Commerce to address the needs of Hispanic business owners in the region.
De la Hoz is also a member of BNI International Hawks Chapter, a group of professionals working together to build business and referrals, where he won the Notable Networker Award in 2011 and 2012 in recognition of outstanding team performance, referrals, visitors and closed business, and the Notable Networker Award in 2010 . He is also a social media expert and passionate blogger, and has been is the Chair of LATISM13 Business Track and was part of the Speaker Panel at The Latino Entrepreneur Toolbox in LATISM12. Ambrocio Gonzalez es un chef muy talentoso , empresario restaurantero dueño de la Catedral Café y Las Quecas dos restaurantes muy exitosos en Chicago y también es una personalidad en el mundo culinario. Fue criado por una madre soltera en Guadalajara, Jalisco y aprendio a temprana edad que si no cocinaba no comia. Abrio su primer restaurant a la edad de 16 y desde entonces se ha distinguido por su talento empresarial y culinario. Emigro a los EU donde continuo su carrera de empresario y chef abriendo varios restaurantes exitosamente.

Erick “ROHO” Garcia is an up and coming Latino artist, DJ and soccer player , a Chicago native raised in Joliet, Illinois is now completing his master’s degree studying painting. Gianpaolo Pietri is an architect, journalist, entrepreneur, coder, producer and writer. Translation? He is a communicator. That’s how he sees his body of work. Beyond artistry or creativity is the need to communicate the true nature of basic human emotions. Essentially, Gianpaolo uses a range of media to communicate , to share his ideas about the World and how it is evolving. There is a common thread visible throughout all of his projects. He seeks to answer the question: How shall we live?
In 2010, Gianpaolo developed a digital news site, Yastá, for the growing yet underserved spanish-speaking community in the US. He currently serves as the media company’s Creative Director. He sees his work on this project as a clear extension, and evolution, of his architecture work.

Jacqueline (Jackie) Camacho is a Latina entrepreneur, author, speaker, philanthropist, cancer survivor. Born in Mexico City, Jacqueline Camacho-Ruiz moved to the United States at age 14 where she learned English in just one year. Hungry for knowledge, Jacqueline earned her college degree and became trilingual (German). From a very early age Jackie devoured amazing literature. Authors like Dale Carnegie, Zig Ziglar, Napoleon Hill and other business icons influenced the launch of her award-winning JJR Marketing, Inc. agency in 2006. Jacqueline speaks to hundreds of audiences nationwide and is described as having a “fire about business success and about life that leaps off the stage.”

Fernando Labastida is a prominent Latino business blogger and the founder of Latin IT Marketing, a blog and consultancy providing marketing services for Latin American software development firms wanting to enter the U.S. market.
